Hey asparagus - Bite Me!

Oh yes, people, i have indeed finally cooked and eaten asparagus in my own home!
You might recall that over the summer asparagus was my culinary nemesis.
But no more.

I bought some Monday night and am going to have it with roasted chicken tonite or tomorrow, but this morning i was feeling frisky and decided that asparagus needed to be cooked immediately.
For breakfast. I chopped 2 spears cooked them with garlic in some olive oil until they were just a little tender, added some salsa, and let the whole pan cook down a bit.
Then i scrambled in some eggs.
The dish could not be categorized as attractive per se (orange eggs seldom are) but it was tasty!
I sliced up some gala apples and sprinkled them with cinnamon-sugar
(i realize that was not a great choice to enhance the attractiveness of the meal) bringing a great crunchy sweet juxtaposition to the softer spicy eggs.
Most importantly, asparagus no longer has the upper hand in the kitchen.

Asparagus - 1, Niki - 0

What could be worse than a disastrous attempt at cooking a new food?
Waiting and waiting and waiting, trying to make a decision about when and how to make the attempt until the food in question goes bad waiting for you.
I don't know why i am so intimidated by the asparagus, but i am.
And now it has gone kerwobbely in the fridge.
sigh...
BUT to deflect attention from my asparagus debacle i present a lovely mushroom quesadilla.
I don't really like mushrooms (what is with that freaky texture?!?) but i had a bunch of sliced ones left over that i didn't want to go to waste (unlike the asparagus, dagnabit) so i marinated them overnight in red wine vinegar, seasoned rice vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic and red pepper flakes.
I sauteed them up with some red onions and mixed that with pepper jack cheese and some 3-cheese mexican shed.
It was pretty spicy so i paired it raw sugar snap peas and grapes.
Wow, mushrooms don't have to suck.
