1 thing i do NOT like about my job

... accidental electrocution.

Totally my fault, no permanent damage and the audience didn't even know it happened, but
OUCH!
A girl can put up with nearly anything for a vocation that she loves, but dang it that hurt.

Oh well... i got the feeling back in my hand so i guess it's all good.

Remember people, do not try to plug in and start a Jacob's ladder in the dark with a fiber optic lamp in your hand just because it looks better without the lights and you're trying to be slick; wires could be draped on transformers and a spark could jump right to you. That's bad.

Camera query

Soooooooo, a lot of my detailed pictures with people in them have been coming out blurry lately. I thought maybe my focus was wacky, but i did a bunch of test shots and everything looks fine on the camera screen, but fuzzy once i transfer them to the computer. I think i heard once (you know how tech savvy i am) that if you delete your pictures over and over again that you can sort of wear out your memory card. I have the emptiest mem card of anyone i know; basically as soon as a picture is taken it is deleted or transferred within 3-4 days. I never have more than 100 pics on the card (though it can hold like 700 at the size i shoot at) or photos older than 2 weeks on the card. Can this fuzziness indicate that i need a new memory card? Anyone?

speaking of housesitting

So my free electronics gig ends today and i have to say my favorite part of the whole thing (besides nightly Alton Brown) was how well my friends know me. When we went over all the stuff that i needed to watch out for before they left, Jason was reminding me which remote did what because i am perpetually confused over which one to use. Finally Kate said, i'll leave it in the notes and this is what i found on the coffee table How funny is that? Every night before i went home i made sure the remotes were back in the same place with the correct note on top so that i'd have a fighting chance at not screwing anything up the next day.

Dangit!

I've finally done it. I am always really careful about my picture files; I am still a bit hesitant about them since there is no physical negative to store. But i also hate having 10 bajillion pictures on my memory card or my computer. So once something is on my computer I clear off my memory card. And once an image is on a blog or sent to Shutterfly i clear it from my computer. The system had worked for nearly 2 years. Until last night. I just realized that i thought the pictures from Rob's last day were on my computer so i cleared them from the memory card and they aren't on my computer. DANG! I really wanted those pictures; they were good pictures. They were the last pictures i had of Rob and the team. Dang, dang, dang. Stupid digital-no-negatives-too-easy-to-throw-away-images camera, stupid flawed system, stupid faulty memory. Is there any way to find images "erased" from memory cards, like things aren't really totally "gone" from your hard drive? Anyone?
