Cryptid-Creations

*****picture added 8/12/15*****

Over at Epbot, Jen posts cool art she comes across and last month one of the artists was Piper Thibodeau, a young Canadian who posts a speed painting every day on her blog, Cryptid-Creations.
She is only a week away from having posted 1000 days in a row, which inspires me to get back here. I have looked through all 992 paintings and i might be a little in love:

where can i get a hamsterlope????
lightning is cloud farts...teehee

For the last week i have been enjoying the daily check for each new painting so i am going to add her to my blogroll in the sidebar in case you would like to be greeted by this each day:

Now if you will excuse me, i need to go get ready for a sushi date with Miss Amy.

UPDATE ADDED:
Per Diane B.'s request in the comments, here is the caterpillar:

I LOVE IT SO MUCH, what is it?

CONTEST UPDATE BELOW - 7/30/13

Is there anything better than unexpected packages waiting at your door?
The handwriting and postmark indicated the parcel came from fTM Frack so I immediately activated quarantine and explosive procedures.
Once the box was cleared to be opened I found a wee purple wrapped parcel (always a good sign) and a note: I saw this in Maine, thought of you for some reason. (which might be a good sign?)
Oh. My. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Look at that little creature.
Look at it!
So adorable it pains my spleen.
I want to cuddle it to pieces, though being made of prickly wood kinda hinders that.

However, I am really unclear on what animal this fabulous ornament represents.
Look at the those felty feet, people.
Could they be cuter?
No, they couldn't.
Those toes obviously say some sort of climbing creature.
Basic morphology makes me think rodent or soricomorph (shrews and moles).
It was made in the Philippines so maybe it is an adorable island animal I've never heard of.

The face, oh the face...

And those eyes...

I am in love with those eyes.

For blops of paint I find them very expressive.
To me they say Hi there!
and Do you have any yummies?

and Did you hear that; was it a predator?
and I am clinging to this rope cause it is my lifeline
and Are you sure it wasn't a predator; I am cute and crunchy
and Do you want to be friends?
and  Be sure to shoot my good side
and Is this going on your blog?
and Thanks for bringing me to work
and I like this flower arrangement, but I could hide better in a tree
and I kinda like you; you're pretty.
I am reminded of Scrat from Ice Age who makes me laugh so hard that milk comes out of my nose.

So, my friends, I need your help.
What animal do YOU think it is?
Also I am stuck on a name because it feels like a boy, but the only name that seems right is distinctly female. So also leave name suggestions in the comments;  i'll even think of some prize if I adopt one of your suggestions.

UPDATE: if you name my lovey I will custom create a 4 pack of cards to your specifications or issue you a $15 NikCo Etsy credit, your choice. Suggest as many names as want.

some things are just made for me

The doorbell just rang at the house i'm watching for friends.
That is a pretty normal occurrence around here; they get a lot of packages.
But this... this one had MY name on it.
A quick text check to make sure and i ripped into it to find

Yes, that would be a pair of fuzzy purple Hello Kitty slippers.
Fuzzy.
Purple.
Hello Kitty.
Thanks Kate, JP and Dash - see ya in a few days!

feeling punk

No, i don't mean that you have spiky green hair and safety pins through your ears. Feeling punk is how i refer to those days when you just feel off: you're some combination of achy, cranky, tired, confused, stuffy, hungry, whiny, lost and/or sniffly.
I am definately feeling punk today.
It must really show cause a coworker sent me a link to 13 Simple Step To Get Through a Rough Day.
He made me feel better so i wanted to share it with you. Be warned, Step 13 almost killed me with the cute.
I'm going home and taking a nap.
Tomorrow will be better cause i am going to see my BFF and my mommy.

T-Rex Trying

We all know that i am short (5'2"and three quarters), but it has been pointed out that even for my stature i seem to have kinda short arms. Really, my arms aren't that short, i am just super long torsoed (thanks Dad) so both my arms and legs seem proportionally short. Some of my closest friends and colleagues enjoy referencing the tyrannosaurus rex when helping me reach things on high shelves.
Why am i telling you this?
T-Rex Trying is a tumblr account that was brought to my attention last week when we were telling a bunch of science jokes (yes, we are geeks, but it was actually for a project; wait, does that make us bigger geeks?).
It is a series of drawings of a lovable t-rex trying to do ordinary things like jump rope or clean the windshield or use eyedrops.
With my wee little arms it is the funniest thing i have ever seen; i was laughing so hard that a co-worker came from the other side of the room to make sure that i was breathing. There are a few that are sad (trex trying to win an auction breaks my heart) and some that cut waaaaay to close to home (trex trying to get food from a buffet with a sneeze guard; i actually look like that if i want something from the back row - make salad bars only one row people!), but mostly they make me snort with laughter.
Given my penchant for ribbon dancing on the Segway, this is my favorite.

He just looks so befuddled.
I'm keeping an eye on their t-shirts cause i will scoop that up if it ever appears.

Are you disgruntled?

Listen, people, i swear that everyone i have spoken to in the last 3 days is in a bad mood.
In fact, even I am in a crappy mood.
Laura, who sits across from me at work, just sent me to http://www.gruntle.me/ to cheer me up.
I hope it can help some of you as well.
