I'm watching a friend's house and she has a nice little garden by the front porch.
It's modest - maybe 50 or 60 square feet- but well loved, properly attended and productive enough that it needs checked daily.
Today's bounty was 1 cucumber, 1 tomato and 5 jalapenos, plus 2 zucchini that i checked and decided to leave on the vine a few more days. The whole operation might have taken 2 minutes or so.
In that time i got EIGHT mosquito bites.
8 bites in 135 seconds!
Can you imagine if i tried to actually garden for real?
Blech
Hat's off to my BFF and others like her who grow their own food and milk their own cows.
Thank God for grocery stores and roadside stands!
